Sun in a Jar
The Mason jar, patented in 1858, is used more than ever in millions of homes in Canada and the United States. It has become an icon of rural and urban craftsmanship. It evokes our ability to transform our daily lives according to our own personal recipe.

The illumination project deploys hundreds, if not thousands, of Mason jars transformed into luminaires. Equipped with a photo-luminescent cell and a rechargeable battery, these lights become a sustainable installation that requires no wiring or energy source! Illumination for 4 to 6 hours a day.

Lumière en conserve revitalised Avenue du Parc in Montreal (Canada) for the spring and summer of 2015. The covered area extends over a length of 1.2 kilometres and André-Bolduc Trail at Mont-Laurier (Canada) in 2024.

The Seoul Arts and Culture Foundation took up the idea and deployed 5,000 personalised solar pots across a district of Seoul in 2018.

An appeal to citizens: Sun in a Jar is the perfect project to appeal to the community. Residents are invited to customise their mason jar, making each lantern unique. We can provide stickers, paint, ribbons and more. The lanterns will then be assembled with the light and placed in the space to light it up.
